Postby Captain Thark » Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:54 am

You know, the kind played with pecils, paper and dice.
Which are your favorites? What do you own?

My favs are:
Savage Worlds! (With the 50 fathomes, Evernight, Rippers, Nessesary Evil and DeadLands: Reloded setings)
New World of Darkness (including Mage, Vampire, And Werewolf)
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Other Stuff I own:
Alternity
Buffy the Vampire
Burning Empires Slayer
DnD in Cyclopedia, 3rd and 2nd editions (and Ebberon for 3rd and some Darksun, Raveloft and Spelljammer for second)
Dragon Quest (not that one, the other one)
Exalted
Gurps
Gurps Discworld
High Fantasy
Legend of the Five Rings (3rd)
Mechwarrior (really crappy first edition though)
Paladium Fantasy Roleplay
Rifts
Shadowrun 3rd and 4th
Star Trek (From last unicorn games)
An intro boxed set of D6 Star Wars
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (really)
Werewolf: The Wild West
Vampire: The Masqurade
Brave New World
Blue Planet (2nd)

Edit: Forgot two games.

ya Savage Worlds... my first RPG, simple and fun.
you can do nearly any setting with it.
World of darkness is a pretty cool system (i like werewolf, hee hee hee)
um gurps the caractor design is slow, but for good reason there is allot to go through. the main flaw i see with it is that it is TOO broad, you can make any kind of charactor you want at all.
and about burning empires... never played... VERY long setup...(what like 10 hrs total And STILL not done)...ya.

i personally own star trek although i don't really know the system well enough to run a game, i have players and narrator's guides... ya.

Really? You should bring them on friday or saturday. Are they the ones made by last unicorn games or decipher? (There is also an extreamly slim possibility that your talking about the FASA version, but I doubt it).

ya it is the Decipher version. the system is like D6 only and it stresses skills alot. i really haven't figured it out completly yet, like combat and stuff. but it seems like combat isn't an extreamly important part of the game.

Well I like Savage Worlds (simple yet fun), D&D (so much stuff), True20 (D&D+Savage Worlds=this), Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (gory), and World of Darkness (good system).

I just picked up the players guide for decipher Star Trek! RPG of the week strikes again!
So Panda, are there rules for ships in the narator's guide? I like the rules WAY better than my other Star Trek game. Which is kind of weird cause they're basically D&D, a game I loathe.

ya it does have rules for ships as well as some of the prefabs like the defiant and galaxy classes it also has 3 more species (romulan, Andorian, and Orion) but depending on the campaine they might not be good for players to be...
and the rules seem like d20 with d6's.

Honestly, I can't think of a game where Andorians would be out of place. They were a founding member of the federation, and they never left as far as I know.
Now I have no idea what the crap they were thinking by making the Telaxians and Ocampa, two races that will never see the alpha or delta quadrent, core races. They won't be playable in anything except straight up voyager rip off games.

well ocampans can be fun if you could explain their existance... (talaxians just suck...) but i don't think this is a star trek thread so enough of that...

so how about them rpg's BESM is pretty awesome for anything anime-like...

Yeah, chargen takes a little while but it can do anything! Want to play Edward elric? Take a ton of levels in transmute. Vash? Exessive levels in Gun Bunny and one big freaking weapon attack.
The rules are probably the simplest I have ever seen. This is also the reason I'm not sure I want to run it again. The rules border on being too simple.
But there is no better game for Mecha that I've seen.

In other news: I got Promethean for christmas! Very Happy Let the frankensteinian angst begin!
