I started watching Berserk before I knew we were watching it at your house, and now, I can't stop myself from watching it...

If you're going to be watching Firefly, you should at least watch BSG. Sorry Firefly, but Battlestar Galactica beats you. Not by much, but it does...

HERETIC! HERETIC! HERTIC!
Battlestar Galactica is a repetive mess of a show that fails to have likable characters with a plot that boils down to "Evil Robots are killing us." "lets look for a planet that may not even exist!" "Okay, hope no-turns out to be a robot!".
The charcaters of Battlestar Galactica are nothing but a combination of clichés and random flaws, with the supposed main charachters being a wishy-washy and anoying and a drunken, spoiled, clichéd prophised-one, respectively.
The show is almost saved by Adama, but his awesomeness is reduced by the fact that he's already so close to a dozen anime captains of the "Hard School of Heroes" archetype.

Firefly is, while not without a few clichés of it's own, creates a universe unlike any other scifi show. For the first time there's no sound in space! Every charcter is deep, with histories and secrets far more interesting than "are they a robot?".
The writing is superb, with Joss Wheden using every trick he learned on Buffy and Angel to it's fullest extent. There are no aliens or robots to be passed off as villians, no all the monsters out in the Black are human. The Aliance is far more interesting than the Cylons.

Battlestar Galactica, while a decent show, is hardly the groundbreaking show many people would have you believe. It tries to convince you it's adult by waving abortion and 'frack' in your face.
I'd much rther be caugt up in the unique and interesting world of the 'verse.

YOU CAN'T TAKE THE SKY FROM ME!

This rant was brought to you by your freindly local Joss Wheden fanboy, who would like to remind you that the look of Battlestar Galactica rips off Firefly, so much so a Firefly class starship even apeared in Battlestar Galactica!

We now return you to our reguarly scheduled Anime-ness, sorry for the rant but to parphrase Scotty: He insulted ma favorite scifi Captain!.

P.S. Even Farscape and Babylon Five are better! And sometimes Andromeda!

Sad You're missing the depth. And no, it's not just the cylons as enemies... Argh, I can't explain it. It's just... excellent.

Sad I made myself promise not to watch any Berserk episodes anymore till Kenhins party, but when I got on the computer... the folder was crying out to me... so I said hmmm... one more episode won't hurt then it will put me at an even 20 episodes. Now... I want to watch more because it somewhat left off at a cliffhanger... Evil or Very Mad

Look, I know that was pretty ranty, but the charcters really don't have that much depth. And I know there are goddish Cylons, but that doesn't change the fact that 9 out of 10 cylons act like sisposable cannon fodder.
I really don't see why everybody being extreamly dcrewed up means they have depth. Starbuck doesn't have depth, she just is constantly in a state of screwed upness. The motivations and relationships of Firely are way deeper, they just never got to explore them in the detail Joss would have liked.

Plus on a basic level, even if it isn't as 'deep as Battlestar Galactica, I know I'd rather like to see the triumphs of Firefly than watching people self destruct in space like Battlestar Galactica.

Every time I watch BSG I can't like anyone (except adama).
I just wish someone could explain why BSG is supposedly so 'deep', 'cause drunken viper pilots just don't do it for me.

bsg is a metaphore for the internal confilct of man, and the struggle aginst the human condition... basicly the the crappiyess in all the main charactors is a generality of the crappyness of the human race... the cylons are the want to change, but as we know humans just suck... BSG is FULL of depth... unfortuanatly it doesn't have much more than that... i guess it is kinda like blade runner that way....

well anyway... turns out the EVA i am downloading isn't dual audio... it is just japanese with subtitles... SO DEAL...
i am also downloading the dual audio of rahxephon because i know too many people don't like to read their animes... unlike me...
